KCR Firearms offers professional firearms and safety training at our private facility in Myakka City, Florida. Our dedicated Range House and on-site outdoor range allow students to complete classroom instruction, hands-on exercises and live-fire training at one convenient location.

Classes are generally limited to four students. This small-class format provides more personal instruction, individual attention and hands-on practice in a relaxed, professional environment.

Whether you are handling a firearm for the first time, developing your pistol skills or preparing to carry concealed, our goal is to help you leave safer, more knowledgeable and more confident.

NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation

START SAFELY. BUILD CONFIDENCE.

The NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation is designed for new and prospective pistol owners who want a focused introduction to firearm safety and responsible pistol use.

Students learn essential safety rules, pistol parts and operation, ammunition fundamentals, safe loading and unloading procedures, shooting fundamentals and responsible storage. Hands-on exercises help students become more comfortable handling and operating a pistol safely before progressing to live-fire practice on KCR’s private outdoor range.

This course provides a welcoming, judgment-free environment where students can ask questions, practice at a comfortable pace and develop a safe foundation for continued firearms training.

GUN SAFETY SEMINAR

ESSENTIAL SAFETY KNOWLEDGE FOR EVERY HOME.

The Gun Safety Seminar is designed for firearm owners, prospective owners and family members who want a clearer understanding of safe firearm handling and storage.

The seminar covers foundational firearm-safety rules, common firearm types, ammunition awareness, safe handling practices, secure storage, accident prevention and responsible behavior around firearms. It is also appropriate for individuals who may not personally own a firearm but live in or regularly visit a home where firearms are present.

Students are encouraged to ask questions and participate in practical discussions about real-world safety situations. The goal is to replace uncertainty with useful knowledge and responsible habits.

The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course provides comprehensive instruction for individuals who want to develop the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to own and use a pistol safely.

Students learn pistol parts and operation, ammunition knowledge, safe gun handling, loading and unloading procedures, shooting fundamentals, pistol selection, cleaning and maintenance. Classroom instruction is reinforced through hands-on exercises and live-fire training on KCR’s private outdoor range.

This course is appropriate for new shooters and firearm owners who want structured, professional instruction. The full-day format allows students to build their knowledge progressively and apply what they learn under direct supervision.

GO BEYOND SIMPLY MEETING THE REQUIREMENT.

The NRA Basic CCW course is designed for individuals who want to develop the knowledge, skills and attitude needed to carry and use a concealed pistol safely and responsibly.

Students receive focused instruction in firearm safety, responsible concealed carry, pistol handling and practical shooting skills. The course combines classroom education with hands-on exercises and live-fire skill development on KCR’s private outdoor range.

The small-class environment gives students more opportunities to ask questions, receive individual coaching and practice the skills needed to carry with greater safety, awareness and confidence.

Course inclusions vary based on the selected class and may include:

• Live-fire course of fire and standard targets when applicable

FIREARMS, AMMUNITION AND EQUIPMENT

Firearms, ammunition and eye and hearing protection are not included in class tuition unless specifically stated in the course description.

Students may bring their own suitable firearm, ammunition and protective equipment, subject to KCR safety requirements and the requirements of the selected course.

RANGE AND PROPERTY SAFETY

FOOTWEAR: Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots are required. Portions of the property have natural and uneven terrain.

SUN PROTECTION: Sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses are recommended, particularly during warmer months. The safety-briefing area and shooting benches are covered, but other portions of the range are exposed to the sun.

NATURE AWARENESS: KCR is located in a natural Florida environment. Students may encounter insects, snakes or other wildlife and should remain aware of their surroundings.

FREE-RANGE POULTRY: Chickens, ducks and roosters roam portions of the property. Please do not approach, chase or feed them.

KCR intentionally limits most classes to no more than four students unless otherwise stated.
